COPPER PENNIES is Released

The day is here. Finally! Copper Pennies took much longer than I would\’ve liked.

With moving to a new state and then our new house getting rebuilt after being struck by lightning, there was a long gap where I didn\’t write a single word. But whatayagonnado when life gets in the way? You set the fun stuff aside, deal with your drama, then get back to it. That\’s what you do.

The idea for this story came to me at the gym. I was on a weight machine staring at an empty row of treadmills. On the TV screen of the one directly in front of me, I saw a flash of a corpse with coins on his eyes. I have no idea if it was a show or a commercial; I really wasn\’t paying attention. But that blip of an image was all it took for a story to spark and then grow into a three-book series. I love my brain.

Copper Pennies isn\’t your typical novel, if one can use the term \’typical\’ when it comes to a fantasy story. I honestly can\’t compare it with another book. With my debut novel, The White Raven, I could easily put it beside Practical Magic or The Silver Witch or Discovery of Witches. With Copper Pennies, I got nothing.

It\’s two stories in one. Part 1 begins with a young Magda Hlavacova in Prague in 1937 and follows her to Boston and to the present day. Part 2 continues with Avery and Chloe Parsons, twin redheaded sisters, who have to travel to Prague and clean up their grandmother\’s mess. It\’s a bit of a love story—but not a romance—with action, adventure, family drama, a mystery or two, supernatural thrills, and some gory, monster-y horror sprinkled in for good measure.

Thank you in advance for giving me your precious time by reading Copper Pennies. You can get it online from the major book retailers, or a personalized paperback from me.
