A Little About Carrie
Carrie D. Miller was born in Hutchinson, Kansas, on October 31. She credits her vivid imagination, as well as her sugar addiction, to being a Halloween baby. In a former life, she was an executive in the software industry for many years. Although Carrie’s written a great deal over the decades which has been read by thousands of people, software documentation allows for about as much creativity as pouring cement. At the age of 45, she decided to chuck it all to become an author which had been a life-long dream.

A Bit More…
Carrie D. Miller’s career in the technology world included software product management, website design, training, and technical writing just to name a few. Carrie had always dreamed of being a published author and gave it a few attempts over the decades. But too much of life interfered each time so it wasn’t until her mid-forties did she make a life-altering decision. Carrie walked away from her successful career to become a full-time writer. On the one-year anniversary of her departure, she self-published her first novel, The White Raven.
Inspired as a child by C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, Carrie has a deep love of all things magickal and mystical. Her parents introduced her to the silliness and humor of Robert Asprin and Piers Anthony, and then her teenage years led her to the haunting and disturbing V.C. Andrews, and of course, Stephen King.
Carrie lives in a suburb of Tucson with a man who can put up with her, a cat who hates everyone except Carrie (but only sometimes), and a derpy German Shepherd.
SOME TIDBITS ABOUT CARRIE
Carrie has a small obsession for rocks and crystals. She laments not becoming a geologist. In her youth and up into her teens, she’d wanted to be an archeologist.
She taught herself HTML back in the mid-nineties when the software company she was working for needed a website. She fell in love with website design and did it for many years, including freelance work on the side.
Ever the entrepreneur, Carrie started a candle business in the late nineties, making candles when she got home from her day job. She’s also had a website selling books but just couldn’t compete with Amazon.
In 2013, she and a few friends started a charity to raise money for local animal sanctuaries. The first event was an amazing Witches’ Ball held in the Deep Ellum part of Dallas. It raised $4,000 for In-Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue and Educational Center in Wylie, Texas.
